CpG is conducting a 5-year India-US research
training programme in Genetic Epidemiology & Statistical Genetics http://watson.hgen.pitt.edu/fogarty/,
in collaboration with the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, USA. This training
programme is funded by the Fogarty International Center (FIC), National Institutes
of Health (NIH), USA.
Under this programme,
Pre- and post-doctoral research fellows are being trained in Statistical
Genetics and Genetic Epidemiology jointly by the faculty of the University
of Pittsburgh and CpG.
Annual Workshops on methods of statistical and genetic analyses of complex
human disorders are being conducted in Kolkata for researchers of various
Indian institutions.
Exchange visits of faculty between CpG and the University of Pittsburgh
are being undertaken to promote research collaborations in genetic epidemiology
and statistical genetics.
Workshops held “Workshop on Statistical Methods in the Analysis of SNP Marker Data”
which was organized by the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) and TCG-ISI
Centre for Population Genomics (CpG) for institutions participating in the
Indian SNP-Consortium Project funded by CSIR. The workshop was held on June
13-15, 2006 at ISI, Kolkata. Prof. Partha P. Majumder (ISI), Neeta Sarkar
Roy (CpG) and Nidhan Kumar Biswas (ISI) were the faculty for the workshop
where there were about 60 participants from reputed institutes, including
Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (Hyderabad), Institute of Genomics
and Integrative Biology (Delhi), Central Drug Research Institute (Lucknow),
Indian Toxicology Research Institute (Lucknow), Institute of Microbial Technology
(Chandigarh), Indian Institute of Chemical Biology (Kolkata), The Centre for
Genomic Application (Delhi), Centre for Population Genomics (Kolkata) and
Indian Statistical Institute (Kolkata). Click
